I use XDarwin, fvwm2, and a xterm launching script called ~jfesler/spx/spawner . The important bits (to me) are that I can use apple-v to paste, apple-n for new xterm, and apple-w to close an xterm. To do this, you need to redefine Paste and Close as application hotkeys (using System Preferences -> Keyboard and Mouse -> Keyboard Shortcuts) for the XDarwin application only.
